Giving Is Awesome ~ 2009 edition

givingisawesome900x100

So last year I was fortunate enough to be involved with Giving is Awesome. Last year internationally over 500 photographers donated over one half a MILLION dollars in custom portraiture.  2009′s goal is to hit the 1 million mark!

So if you are a photographer, please go visit the site and sign up! It is the most amazing thing in the world. Last year I had to give away 2 Giving is Awesome sessions, because I just couldn’t decide between 2 entries! And they were some of the most rewarding sessions I have done!

If you are NOT a photographer, but live in the Central Alberta area and know of someone who deserves the gift of custom photography, or of someone who would love to afford it, but simply cant. Please keep on reading below for all the details!

If you do Not live in the Central Alberta area, visit the Giving Is Awesome website and click on the map to find a local to you photographer that has signed up!

Here’s the details!

You know someone.

You know someone who’s experienced a tragedy, is struggling to stay afloat, is raising kids while holding down more than one job, or is volunteering selflessly despite extenuating personal circumstances.

You know someone who can’t afford custom photography, but who would cherish it this holiday season.

You know someone who deserves a year-round reminder of their family’s spirit, love, and beauty.

You know someone. I guarantee it.

I want to know who they are, and I want to give them the chance to experience complimentary custom photography – $2000 worth, to be exact. The winner will receive a complimentary photo session, the high resolution digital negatives for every image in their gallery, PLUS a complete set of 4×6 prints to match those files.

Oh, and the best part? The person who nominates the winner receives a $250 print credit. What better reason to show some love could there possibly be?

The rules:

* You cannot nominate yourself, and the person nominated must sincerely be incapable of purchasing my services. (Being unable to make mortgage payments for a two-million-dollar-vacation-home in Paris does not qualify as sincere financial need.)

* The nominee must reside in Central Alberta. Tell me who you know, what they’re experiencing, and why they deserve my artwork. Please include a way to contact both your nominee and yourself as well.

* You must e-mail me the full story : info@deannahallphotography.com

Deadline for entries is December 24th.

The winner will be announced on my birthday (January 3rd) –  so get nominating!  I can’t wait to read all of your entries!

Open your heart to someone this holiday season — and thank you for giving me the opportunity to open mine.

With love,

Deanna

Let them Eat Cake ~ Central Alberta Cake Specialists

A few weeks ago I was honored to be asked to be the official photographer for the Taste of Red Deer. Its a huge fund raising event that is run in conjunction with the Festival of Trees.

While shooting, I met some of the most amazing and insanely creative people.  Some of which included Dionne and the other owners of Let Them Eat Cake . They had the cutest tiny cupcakes and the most amazing Christmas Themed Cake I have ever seen! All covered in fondant, and full of the most amazing details ever. IF you could have seen the details that went into the wreaths ALONE!  I wish I had had my macro lens with me, the photos just do the cake justice at all!

I will totally be recommending them to any bride that comes my way!

Let Them Eat Cake is a small Cafe ( and Cake specialists) located in the Blackfalds Community Library, I haven’t been in there yet, but now that I know they exist, AND THAT THEY SERVE CHAI LATTE’s! I am so going to be stopping in one day to have a sit!Red _Deer_wedding PhotographyRed _Deer_wedding Photography

mmnn… the cupcakes were SOOOO good!
