Since there were 30 fingers and 30 toes to work with today, I called upon an upcoming photographer from Innisfail, Nichole Drevenak to come and help me shoosh, swaddle and tuck private parts! A huge thank you to Nichole for helping me this  morning I could NOT have done it without you!

To Angela and Brian, thank you so very much for opening your home to myself and Nichole.  We very much appreciated your  hospitality ( and your great accents! LOL) (they brought us some Timmie’s part way through the session!)

I am doing the mad dash to Las Vegas tomorrow to attend WPPI.  Its a HUGE conference of photographers full of LOTS of learning, and lots of Fun.  I will be MIA until Friday March 12th! I will still have email access so if you need to chat,  just pop me an email!

While talking with my clients at a session, I am often reminded just how small the world, (especially Central Alberta) truly is! My First sneak peek for today is a client that googled me,  made her photographer choice by my website portfolio, and booked her session.  Skip ahead about 2 months.. and my husband is on a flight home from Winnipeg, and there is another man from Red Deer on the Flight.. they get talking.. and well it is the brother of our business partner! Cool huh? Now you ask.but how does this relate to this post.. well the other man, is also the father of my client.. and a VERY VERY excited grandfather to be!

So.. I arrive at the session, we giggle at the coincidence, and Jen goes on to tell me that her Grandparents originally lived close to where I am living.. Well turns out that they actually lived on the same land as we do now!!

Here is why I am going! IF you know of anyone in the Montreal Area, please be sure to direct them here! This is an amazing opportunity for some portraits by 5 amazing photographers!

Five phenomenal portrait photographers from across Canada are being hosted in Montreal, by Natacha Silber Photography, for a fun-filled weekend of camaraderie, collaboration and most importantly….lots of photography. This unique three day event (April 10-12th, 2010) requires a variety of models, ranging from expectant mothers to teens, specifically:

Saturday April 10th from 9:30am – 3pm

Newborn babies (5-10 days old)

5 models needed, If you are due near this time please send your inquiry and we will contact you with further information.

Sunday April 11th 9:30am – 4:30 or 5pm Toddlers, children, and teens.

3-4 models  needed (2- 15 yrs old) . Sessions maybe held outside at a chosen location.

Monday the 12th 9:30-noon Pregnant women (33-36 weeks)

2-3 models needed. Sessions maybe held outside at a chosen location.

I love going to clients homes,  and they pull out something different and unique.. I LOVE LOVE this sock monkey! I think it will be the perfect item to reuse from session to session to help document this lovely one’s growth!

I’m writing this with tears in my eyes,my fam and I came down here to Wales,United Kingdom for a short vacation unfortunately we were mugged at the park of the hotel where we stayed,all cash,credit card and cell were stolen off us but luckily for us we still have our passports with us.

We’ve been to the embassy and the Police here but they’re not helping issues at all and our flight leaves in less than 5hrs from now but we’re having problems settling the hotel bills($2,000) and the hotel manager won’t let us leave until we settle the bills,I’m freaked out at the moment….Let me know if you can get help to us rigth now.

I assure you all I am NOT in the UK, and we are all just fine.. or well.. other than this to deal with today.. we are hoping to enjoy a great family day weekend!

BE SUPER cautious about any contact with my profile right now. At one point this morning they were even chatting with a fellow photographer on the FB Chat! trying to convince them, they were truly me!

I have taken the steps needed ( I hope) my yahoo email hack has been reported and is in total lockdown for 24 hours. I have also reported my facebook account so its under investigation. Because they hacked in via my yahoo email, I was unable to just request a new password.. ( I wasnt able to log into my account, and they are good. I immediately went into my secondary email account (listed off my yahoo one.. which went to a hotmail account.. I can see that at 1:50am this morning someone added a new email address to my yahoo account. and then also went back in and deleted my secondary email from hotmail. )

they have also went in and changed my phone information on my facebook profile. so for now.. i guess just ignore most of the contact you have from me.

for some reason I am still able to update my facebook status via my twitter.. but I have no idea how long that will work for, or if maybe and hopefully they have given up on my account.

And now for the sneak peek! I snuck out of town this weekend for a quick and fun maternity session. I always LOVE getting to shoot in new places! We started off in the house for a few traditional poses,  then we wrapped up,  forded through some snow banks,  got off the beaten path, and got some wonderful outdoor portraits as well!

I love love love the tones in this series.. the natural light in this home was simply stunning! I can not wait to head back in a few weeks.. well ok lets make it 6 or 7 for the newborn photography session!

Tis the time of year that all of us photographers get the itch to learn and expand our skills…I think its the cold winter weather outside personally.

With this desire to learn, comes workshops and new adventures which result in the need for subjects!

The first casting call is for MONTREAL!  you bet.. I am on my way to Montreal to join some fellow photographers in April 2010! I am totally stoked to be able to meet some of these fine photographers! We are looking for babies due the first week in April! Also an open call to children ranging in age from children ranging from 2-13 and teens from 14-17  that also reside in the Montreal area! I know that its a long stretch posting this casting call here in Alberta, but you just never know who has a cute relative on the Other side of our dear country!

The second casting call is for Red Deer. I am enrolled in a local workshop to be held on the 24th of April in Red Deer.  We are looking for children ages 3-14.  For this workshop there may be up to 20 photographers shooting your child, so please be sure to consider that before you enter.   Some children will thrive with all the attentions.. others will not.  Top 10 entries will be chosen by local photographers then the final winners will be decided by an online voting poll! You will also be required to sign a model release, and your childrens images will be posted on the internet, by one or more different photographers.

To enter your child(ren) please email me a photo of your child, as well with all contact information.  Please be sure to state the age(s) of the entrants at info@deannahallphotography.com I will then forward all entries to the organizer so the top 10 can be chosen!
